Risk management often means having to balance between right and wrong. A collection of dilemmas developed by the National Contact Point, the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO), and Transparency International Norway is intended to inspire reflection and discussion.
What do you do when you discover child labor at one of your suppliers? How do you proceed when, as a buyer for a food importer, you uncover forced labor at the producer? How do you handle attempts at bribery and close family ties in the awarding of contracts?
Which steps of the due diligence process are important to identify the risk of human rights violations? What policies should a company have in place to be in line with the OECD Guidelines?
These are just some of the topics covered by the 22 dilemmas in the collection.
Here is a polished English translation:
As Norway’s leading expert body on the OECD Guidelines for Responsible Business Conduct, it is our role to guide Norwegian businesses in how to work with due diligence. This collection of dilemmas is a valuable addition to the toolbox.

The collection of dilemmas consists of two parts—one for course participants, containing descriptions of the dilemmas with questions for discussion, and one for course facilitators.
Real life examples
The examples are based on concrete challenges related to human rights, decent work, and anti-corruption. The dilemmas are largely drawn from real-life cases submitted by members of NHO’s Sustainability Forum. This ensures that the dilemmas discussed are both relevant and real issues for businesses today.
